Rudy Giuliani, three other Trump allies subpoenaed in January 6 riot probe

Rudy Giuliani is a personal attorney to Donald Trump.

Rudy Giuliani, a former lawyer for Donald Trump, and two other people were subpoenaed by the House committee investigating the Capitol riot.

A number of people in Trump's circle have resisted cooperating with the House panel, which has issued a number of demands for interviews and evidence.

The committee said that the subpoenas were for four people, including Giuliani, the attorneys, and a Trump associate, who were involved in attempts to disrupt or delay the certification of election results.

The January 6, 2021, invasion of the Capitol by a mob of Trump supporters was the culmination of his claim that he had actually won the election.

After the election, Giuliani led efforts to challenge the results in some states that showed Biden had won. The law license of Giuliani was suspended in New York and Washington, D.C. for making false and misleading statements about the election results.

The committee said that Ellis assisted Giuliani in that effort, and that he prepared two memos purporting to analyze the constitutional authority for the Vice President to reject or delay counting electoral votes from states that had submitted alternate slates of electors.

Powell promoted claims of election fraud on behalf of former President Trump, according to the committee.

Sidney Powell, an attorney who was once associated with the Trump campaign, is now associated with Rudy Giuliani.

On the morning of January 6th, the day after the election, Epshteyn had a call with former President Trump to discuss options to delay the certification of election results.

Bennie Thompson said that the four people subpoenaed were in contact with the former President about attempts to stop the counting of electoral votes.

Thompson said that they expect these individuals to join the nearly 400 witnesses who have spoken with the Select Committee as the committee works to get answers for the American people about the violent attack on our democracy.
