While Ben Roethlisberger hasn't officially retired, the Pittsburgh Steelers are heading into the offseason with an open mind at the quarterback position.
"All options are on the table", said head coach Mike Tomlin. He said that Mason and Dwayne will have an opportunity to win the starting job.

TheSteelers are operating under the assumption Big Ben will retire. They will have to prove that, according to Tomlin. In the team development process and also through playing. They will be given an opportunity to establish themselves.

"I'm looking forward to that challenge," he said. Those of us that are competitors are. It's a challenge. It makes you uneasy.
The most likely solution is an external candidate because neither Rudolph nor Haskins has proven themselves as an NFL starter.
When Roethlisberger was limited to two games, Rudolph had an opportunity. He threw for 1,765 yards and 13 touchdown in 10 appearances.
The Washington Football Team released Haskins at the end of his second season, a move that came as a surprise considering the team selected him in the first round of the 2019.
Some of Pittsburgh's salary-cap space will be used to re-sign some of its free agents.
Kevin Colbert might be able to find enough money to acquire a veteran signal-caller such as Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson, or the Packers' Rodgers in a trade.
The final decision might not be made by Colbert, as reported by Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.
Rapoport reported Sunday that Colbert is likely to leave a gift in the form of a quarterback.
"With so much focus on big-time trades for veteran QBs, it would be un-Steelers-like to see Colbert package several first-rounders to attempt to trade for Rodgers or Wilson, as one source explained."
The organization has thrived by drafting and developing, and selling the future for a veteran QB is not likely in the playbook. Those who know Colbert describe it as highly unlikely.
The 20th pick is going to be taken by the Steelers.
The position's value could mean the best options come off the board relatively early in the draft.
They're going to take an offensive tackle instead of a quarterback in the mock draft.
