The lawsuit was filed in Manhattan federal court by lawyers for the woman who was propositioned for sex by Col Allan.
After she complained about the harassment, the suit alleges Allan was forced to retire and then her responsibilities and authority were steadily eroded.
Gotthelf was demoted after the Post hired a new editor-in-chief, and she was fired after he questioned her about what happened between her and Allan.
Murdoch's News Corp., NYP and Allan and Poole are named in the lawsuit.
The Post and News Corp.'s spokesman said in a statement to Forbes that any suggestion of wrongdoing is meritless.
In an email sent to staff on Tuesday and obtained by Forbes, Poole thanked Gotthelf for her 20 years at the paper and announced her departure on January 15.

Allan was a long-time friend of Murdoch. Murdoch's Fox News has been a source of sexual harassment complaints. Megyn Kelly was one of over a dozen Fox News employees who accused Roger Ailes, the founder and head of the network, of sexual harassment. The New York Times reported that Bill O'Reilly lost advertisers after he settled sexual harassment claims. The network said O'Reilly wouldn't be returning to his show after a vacation.
