The Interfax news agency reported that the Russian embassy in Kyiv was operating as usual, despite a New York Times report that Moscow had begun to evacuate staff from its diplomatic missions in Ukraine. A senior Ukrainian official told the New York Times that 18 people, mostly family members of Russian diplomats, had left the country. It said that around 30 people left the embassy in Kyiv and the consulate in western Ukraine over the next few days.

The New York Times reported that a senior Ukrainian security official told them that the wives and children of employees from the Russian Embassy in Kyiv left earlier this month. The embassy had 18 people leave over the course of a couple of days.
