Adama Traore pledges part of salary to anti-racism project Common Goal

Adama Traore pledged to give one per cent of his salary to the Common Goal anti-racism project.

The project to end racism in football was launched in the United States last year.

The 25-year-old Spain international said that the headlines are often stolen by racist actions.

"If I've learned anything in my career so far, it's that leading with action rather than empty words is what counts in making a difference." It's important for me to be involved in the solution.

I know that my voice alone won't solve the problem, and that my one per cent alone isn't going to fix it. If I can encourage others to join us in this fight, we can make a difference.

Juan Mata of Manchester United and Spain pledged one per cent of his salary to the Common Goal.

Some of the biggest names in football are on the Common Goal team.

The goal is to impact 100 million young people by the year 2030.

Mata hopes Traore will inspire other players.

Juan Mata was pictured following the announcement that adidas will contribute 1 per cent of the global net sales of their footballs to Common Goal.

It's great to see another person from the premier league join the team, it's already over 200 professionals from around the world.

I hope that Adama joining the movement will inspire other male colleagues from the premier league to join the movement because there are so many inspiring female players that are already Common Goal members.

The time to act is now because one per cent is almost nothing.

Fans can join adidas and Common Goal at the starting line by purchasing a football at www.adidas.co.uk/balls for 1% of their purchase to be donated to social change causes.
