The Enigma — a 555-carat black gem and the largest diamond ever auctioned — can be purchased with cryptocurrency

A black diamond of over 500 carats is up for auction, and anyone can bid using cryptocurrencies.

The largest cut diamond in the world was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. It will be part of a sale that will allow bids in cryptocurrencies.

According to Coindesk, the stable coinUSDC will be accepted at the auction.
According to the Associated Press, the diamond could sell for at least 5 million British pounds, or $6.8 million.

The diamond could be from space, according to a jewelry specialist.
"We believe that the carbonado diamonds were formed through meteorites colliding with the Earth and either forming chemical Vapor disposition or the meteorites themselves," Stevens said.

This is the second time that the auction house has accepted bids on gems. A mystery buyer paid $12.3 million for a 101.38-carat diamond, which was auctioned off in July.
In July, the deputy chairman of the jewellery division at the company told the website that they accept payments in the form of cryptocurrencies.

He said that by introducing this innovative payment option to our luxury sale, we open up new possibilities and expand our reach into a whole new clientele, many of whom are from the digitally savvy generation.
The diamond will be on display in the United Arab Emirates. It will be shown twice more in Los Angeles and London before an online-only auction begins.
