The Seattle Seahawks were the only team from the West that didn't make the playoffs this year, and they are changing their coaching staff as a result.

According to Bob Condotta and Adam Jude of the Seattle Times, the team is expected to part ways with both defensive and passing game assistants.

According to a report, Clint Hurtt and Ed Donatell are potential replacements for the defensive coordinator position that was held by Norton for the last four seasons.

A three-time Super Bowl champion and three-time Pro Bowler,Norton played for the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys from 1988 through 2000 and was a three-time Super Bowl champion.

His coaching career has included time as a coach at USC, Seattle and the Oakland Raiders. He was the head coach of the Seattle defense from 2010 to 2014 and the team advanced to two Super Bowls.

The Legion of Boom secondary made a lot of headlines, but Bobby and K.J. Wright were excellent middle linebackers who helped the defense establish itself as one of the best in the league.

The defensive coach for the Raiders from 2015 until he was fired in November of the last season,Norton came back to Seattle as the defensive coach for the season.

He was unable to replicate his success as a coach as the team finished in the bottom half of the league in yards allowed per game in his second tenure.

The team's average of 379.1 yards per game is the second-worst in team history.

The defense would need to change in order to be competitive in the division in 2022, and that change will cost the defensive coach his job.
