The Las Vegas Raiders don't have a head coach for the time being, but they are still doing their homework on potential candidates in case they do decide to move on from interim coach Rich Bisaccia.

The Raiders requested interviews with the New England Pats for Jerod Mayo as a head coaching candidate and Dave Ziegler as a general manager candidate, according to Adam Schefter.

Ian Rapoport reported that the Raiders told Mike Mayock he wouldn't be coming back.

While there is still uncertainty about what the team will do, Bisaccia deserves a lot of credit for what he did in an interim role.

He took over for the final 12 games of the season after Jon Gruden was found to have sent racist, anti-gay and misogynistic emails. It wasn't an easy situation for a long time assistant coach to step into as a first head coaching opportunity, and it wasn't easy when the Raiders released wide receiver Henry Rugg III after he was charged in a fatal car crash.

The team was stable during the stretch run.

Las Vegas won its final four regular-season games to make the playoffs, including a thrilling overtime game against the Los Angeles Clippers in Week 18 on Sunday Night Football to decide the final team in the playoffs.

The Raiders lost by seven on the road against the Cincinnati Bengals in the Wild Card Round, but it was a testament to the team that they made it that far.

He is best known for his time as a player for the Pats. He won a Super Bowl while playing in the middle of the defense and was a two-time Pro Bowl selection.

He has been on New England's coaching staff for the past three seasons and helped the team reach the playoffs in 2021, behind a defense that finished second in the league in points allowed per game.

He spent the past nine seasons in the scouting department in New England. He was promoted to director of player personnel in 2021, after being the assistant director of player personnel, the director of pro personnel, and the assistant director of pro scouting.

The Raiders under Mayock did not make the playoffs in any of the years they were under him, but the Pats have advanced to the playoffs eight times in the past nine seasons with the help of Ziegler on staff.

Mayock was hired by Las Vegas in the middle of the year and went to 25-24 with zero playoff wins and one postseason appearance.
