One of the ambient sounds from the Google Assistant is white noise that might help block out noise to make it easier to sleep or study. The company seemingly changed its white noise sound last week, and many have expressed frustration with the update.

The change has been disruptive for a lot of people, as documented in this community thread with more than 150 replies. The new noise was described as quieter or muffled. A person said that their child asked to use a white noise generator instead of the Nest Hub. One person said their toddler wakes up during the night.

A request for comment was not immediately responded to. It is not clear if the company will adjust the white noise sound to address complaints.

If you want the old white noise sound to come back, a user on Reddit has uploaded a one-hour track of the original version to the internet. You can see the full list of ambient sounds available on the website.
