Mississippi's Jackson airport evacuated passengers and employees after receiving 'verbal security threat'

The operator of the Jackson- Medgar Evers International Airport in Jackson, Mississippi said on Monday that they had evacuated passengers and employees after receiving a security threat.

The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority said Monday that it had received a security threat at its primary airport.

The operator of the airport said it immediately reported the incident to the transportation security administration, which "took the step of evacuating passengers and employees at JAN out of an abundance of caution."

The agency is aware of an incident at the airport. The Jackson Police Department and representatives for the airport did not return calls.

Some flights were delayed or canceled at the airport as a result of the threat, according to a CBS News affiliate in Jackson. It was not clear what the threat was.
