Joint Chiefs Chair Mark Milley tests positive for Covid

The other joint chiefs had all tested negative. The other positive test was Gen. David Berger, a Marine Corps spokesman.

The performance of his duties will not be affected.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin contracted the virus earlier this month, and the Pentagon officials have been positive about it. Austin has recovered after also reporting mild symptoms.

The military has seen an increase in cases. The number of Covid infections in the military increased by 2.5 times the previous week.

Biden was exposed in December when he came in contact with a White House official who later tested positive for Covid. The president is tested frequently according to Jen Psaki. Biden received his booster dose in September.

The White House did not respond to a request for comment about when the president was last tested.

The White House and other government agencies have seen an increase in cases of the Omicron variant of the coronaviruses. Several public officials have announced positive cases recently.

The White House has limited the size of gatherings and has continued to test anyone who will be in close contact with Biden or Harris. The White House Correspondents' Association reduced the number of journalists in the White House briefing room because of rising cases.
