Chelsea welcome CPS decision to define chant aimed at their players and fans as homophobic slur

Fans singing the chant during matches against the other team is against the rules.

The chant that has been aimed at the players and fans of the club has been defined as a gay slur by the Crown Prosecution Service.

Fans singing the slur during matches are committing a hate crime according to theCPS.

Those found to have used the words could face prosecution.

They will not hesitate to take action against individuals who continue to sing the chant.

The fans of several English clubs have been reprimanded for singing the chant.

A section of Spurs fans were condemned for signing the chant during their Carabao Cup semi-final first leg loss to Chelsea.

The club said that the term "rent boy" is a homophobic slur and that those who use it are liable to prosecution.

We will continue to work with our supporters and the LGBTQ+ fan group to ensure that our club is welcoming and inclusive for all.

We will not hesitate to take action against anyone who uses this or any other discrimination-laden language.
