Alexia Putellas: Best Fifa women's award goes to Barcelona and Spain midfielder

A woman named Alexia Putellas holds the Spain women's record for appearance with 93 caps.

The Best Fifa Women's Player of the Year has been won by Barcelona's Alexia Putellas, while Emma Hayes has won the Women's Coach of the Year.

Putellas won the Ballon d'Or in November and now holds both of the highest individual awards in world football.

She helped Barcelona win a domestic double as well as their first ever Women's European Championship last season.

The English league title was won by Hayes's team.

Poland's Robert Lewandowski won the men's award.

Putellas beat out his Barcelona team-mates and Australia's Sam Kerr to win the award.

She has been the leader of a star-laden, all-conquering Barcelona side who won the Spanish league title and the European crown by beating the Women's Super League winners, as well as dropping just three points all season.

It led to Putellas being named Uefa Women's Player of the Year, Spain women's national player of the year and the Guardian's list of the 100 best women's footballers.

She was the top scorer in the Spanish top flight with 31 goals, and will lead Spain's hopes at the Women's Euros in England.

Kerr finished top scorer in the Women's Super League as well as being part of the team that reached the first European final in the club's history.

The men's award was won by Thomas Tuchel, the same man who won the coaching award.

I am not usually stunned.

The Blues won back-to-back WSL titles, as well as winning the Women's FA Cup and League Cup, and took the club to their first Women's European final.

She said she was so shocked.

I am surprised like this. It is up to the players. A coach is only as good as the people around them.

Christine Sinclair was presented with a special award for being the highest scorer in both men's and women's international football, with 188 goals in 308 games for her country.

The first South American to win the award was Christiane Endler of Lyon, who beat out Ann-Katrin Berger of Chelsea and Stephane Labbe of Paris St-Germain.
