As they search for a new head coach and general manager, the Chicago Bears might be able to find top candidates.
A coach told Mike Sando of The Athletic that Chicago is a very desirable location for a roster construction standpoint.
It's unlikely that the Bears could trade Fields less than a year after moving up in the draft. Management wants to fill the general manager position with people who think Fields can become a franchise quarterback.
The Ohio State product struggled for much of his first season, but that was probably due to Matt Nagy not scheming for Fields' skill set. He finished with 1,870 passing yards and seven touchdown against 10 pick ups.
Nagy and Ryan Pace were fired by the Bears.
The Chicago Bears did not have a first-round pick because they traded up to draft Fields last year. It's possible that the new Bears management tries to find a team willing to take on Fields in exchange for a first in what's considered one of the weakest quarterback drafts in recent memory.
It seems like giving up on Fields is shortsighted.
