Jimmy Garoppolo has been the subject of trade rumors and fans calling for his job since the San Francisco 49ers traded up to draft Trey Lance last April.
Garoppolo opened up to Peter King of NBC Sports on how he's able to keep perspective despite the chaos, after leading the 49ers to an upset win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Garoppolo said that knowing who you are as a player and a person is a big part of it. That will take a long time. It is a big part of my mental game. I know what type of quarterback I am. I know what type of player I am. Keep it coming, all the noise out there. It keeps me going. It is a good thing when people are talking about you.

Garoppolo threw for 172 yards and an error in the 49ers win. The Cowboys were able to get back in the game after his fourth-quarter pick-six, but it wasn't enough.

The 49ers relied on their running game, with Deebo Samuel and Elijah Mitchell each scoring a touchdown. The 49ers reached the Super Bowl despite Garoppolo rarely dropping back to pass, and the ground-and-pound strategy was similar to how Kyle Shanahan called games in the playoffs.

Some have wondered if Lance's dual-threat dynamism would be better for the San Francisco offense, but the most strident defender of Garoppolo has been Kyle.
According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, Jimmy has been unbelievable this year. Jimmy is playing how he always has, which is more like a top quarterback, when he is healthy. Jimmy is the same guy regardless, I think people are a little unfair with him. I have known him for five years, and he is always the same guy, and the guys really fight for him.

Garoppolo is a starter in the regular season and has a 3-1 record in the playoffs.
