Apple is requiring workers receive Covid vaccine boosters as employers start mandating the shots amid the surge in Omicron cases

Apple will require all employees to get a vaccine booster shot or submit to Covid tests.

A booster shot is part of staying up to date with your vaccine to protect against severe disease due to the waning efficacy of the primary series.

The media outlet said that Apple employees who are eligible for booster shots have four weeks to get jabbed or take rapid antigen tests before entering the workplace.

The memo shows that those who are unvaccinated must provide negative test results from January 24. It wasn't immediately clear if this testing requirement applies to retail and corporate employees.

Apple didn't reply immediately to Insider's request for comment.

As American employers grapple with a surge in the Omicron variant of the coronaviruses, Apple's move comes as many are preparing to return to work after nearly two years of working from home due to the Pandemic.

In line with other major tech firms, Apple has pushed back its return-to-office indefinitely.

Meta told its employees last week that they would have to get booster shots when the US campuses reopen.
The Information reported last Thursday that Amazon had offered US warehouse workers 40 dollars if they got a booster.
