3 reasons you should buy a Chromebook tablet instead of Android

I don't understand why you would buy a disposable Fire HD for your child when there are some great tablets out there. Yes, seriously. Even though it's better to update its tablets nowadays, they still aren't supported the way Chrome OS devices are. I haven't seen a "Productivity mode" on any of the tablets that have a candle to Chrome OS.

If you're in the market for a tablet and you want it to be something you could work off of for a few hours, or a few days while you wait on a replacement laptop or for your Macbook repairs to be done, you should be looking at the HP Chromebook x. You will save money, headaches and have a more versatile device.

There have been 8 years of platform and security updates.

The four years of security updates for most of the phones and tablets sold by the company are not platform updates. The tablets get worse when you look beyond them.

Eight years of platform and security updates is what Chromebooks get. The Duet 5 and HP x2 11 will get updates until at least June 2029. I dare you to show me a tablet with support life ahead of it.

The update of all Chromebooks is supervised by the team at the Chrome OS. If you want to try out new features, you can move from the stable channel to the development channel. It takes a factory reset to get back to stable, but it will automatically re- install your apps, chrome extensions, and bookmarks if you do.

New features are added more frequently, bugs are fixed more quickly, and updates are more long term than on the other platform.

The desktop browser has full keyboard shortcuts.

I've used a variety of modes, but they don't hold a candle to having full desktop mode on Chromebooks once you attach the keyboard. You can use text expanders and other extensions, websites will load the desktop version rather than some oversized web view, and you can snap windows to one side and back to full with a plethora of keyboard shortcuts.

The HP x2 11 and the Duet 5 are tablets that could serve as full-time machines, even though most of us won't use them as primary computers. You can use desktop Chrome and the flexibility of the apps on the Play store.

It is possible to work on the tablets, but the compatibility of the apps is so poor that it feels incomplete. Not all apps are compatible with Chrome OS, but at least all of them can run in a phone-sized window, which is more convenient than having to use a full-screen, bloated mess.

I've worked full-time from a Duet 5 and an HP x2 11 in the last two years, and that simply wasn't possible when using a Android device.

The accessories are included with faster speeds.

There's an added cost when you need the necessary accessories for your device. Adding a keyboard and stand to the already high price of a Tab S7 can add another $100-$150. If the tablet isn't designed for a POGO keyboard, you might have to use aftermarket solutions.

The mistakes of the Google Pixel Slate have been learned by the Chrome tablets, which come with keyboards and kickstand in the box. Even the $200 Chromebook Duet comes with a kickstand and keyboard in the box because it's the best one for using with a keyboard and mouse. The keyboard is always handy, even though the keyboard's always handy to have around, since it doubles as a screen protectors when folded up in your bag.

You can plug the tablets into a hub and use it to connect a second screen, keyboard, or even external hard drives.

Fast charging speeds are an accessory feature for chrome tablets. The majority of the tablets on the market only charge 18 to 30W, whereas the Tab S7 series has 45W charging. The HP x2 11, the Duet 5, and others all use standard 45W charging. If you want to escape the shackles of the wall charge, you can use the chrome tablets to take your new device to the coffee shop, the park, or the office.

The gateway into Chromebooks is perfect.

If you try out a Chrome tablet, you can learn more about the OS. If your kids are issued a Chromebooks for school, having a Chromebooks tablet will allow you to figure out where things are and how to fix things when they get messed up. If the school-issued laptops are too slow, you can evaluate how useful the system is before buying your child their own.

If you've used Chrome OS on a tablet, you might consider a good Chromebooks for your next laptop or a Chromebox for the grandparents so that they can do their browsing but can't break anything and will automatically update for almost a decade. They're great for international travel because you can factory reset them before you go through customs.

Having a spare laptop for anyone in the house, whether it's for the summer when the kids need to share it, or if the wife needs it while her laptop is out for a repair, is a bonus. That's not something you can claim with any of the tablets on the market today.

You can download all the apps on theandroid app store.

The Duet 5 has a screen that you can see and a battery that can last all day, but it's not the best of both worlds. 400 nits max brightness and a full-size keyboard are what this 13-inch screen has to offer.
