ProMotion Now Expected to Remain Exclusive to iPhone 14 Pro Models, Not Expand to Entire Lineup

According to a respected display analyst, only the highest-end iPhone 14 models will feature Apple's ProMotion display technology.

Ross Young, who has detailed accurate information about Apple's future products on multiple occasions, said that ProMotion will not be expanded to the entire iPhone 14 lineup and will remain exclusive to the Pro models. The report earlier in the week claimed that all models of the iPhone 14 would feature ProMotion technology.

Young said that the company doesn't have enough production capacity to make the displays for the lower-end models. According to a report last year, LG was going to start making displays for Apple this year, and that it would be the exclusive supplier of displays for the 13 Pro models.

In September of 2021, Apple introduced ProMotion on the iPhone. ProMotion allows the display to refresh at up to 120Hz for a smooth appearance and scrolling, and as low as 10Hz for longer battery life, depending on the type of content on the screen.

ProMotion is limited to "Pro" products such as the iPad Pro and the new MacBook Pros.

There will be two 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch standard models, two 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch Pro models, and a 5.4-inch "mini" model of the iPhone 14. We have a comprehensive list of everything we know about the iPhone 14.
