The Nets announced on Sunday that Kevin Durant had a left knee injury and had a damaged knee cap.

The team said he will be back after a period of rehabilitation.

According to sources, there's optimism within Nets that there will be a four-to-six-week rehab and return for Kevin Durant.

Bruce Brown fell into his knee trying to defend against Herbert Jones in the first half of the game.

He missed three games in December after being placed in the NBA's health and safety protocols. He was back for the loss to the 76ers.

The early favorite for the award is the player who has played the best this season, Kevin Durant. He leads the NBA in points per game with 29.7, and he helped lead Brooklyn to a 27-15 record. He's shooting 52 percent from the field and 37.1 percent from deep while also averaging 7.5 rebound and 5.9 assists.

The small forward has played more than 40 minutes eight times this year. He was asked to play more minutes when the Nets were without James Harden.

Brooklyn will rely on Irving and Harden to carry the team. It will be difficult for Irving to do that. He can only play in away games because of the New York City requirement that unvaccinated individuals cannot enter indoor arenas. Brown, Nic Claxton, andBlakeGriffin will need to step up.
