A volcano 40 miles from the island has caused a wave to flood the Pacific island nation of Tonga.
The capital city of Nuku'aloFA is covered in thick volcanic ash, and towns have been damaged by seawater.
Sky News reported that aid agencies said that the ash and smoke had prompted authorities to ask people to wear masks and drink bottled water.
There were no reports of deaths or injuries.

Dramatic footage on social media shows people running for their lives as the waves hit their homes.
The eruption hit as the family was preparing for dinner, according to a person who spoke to the New Zealand news site Stuff.co.nz.
"My first thought was to hide under the table." I grabbed my sister and screamed at my parents to do the same.
The water started filling her home.
She said that she could hear people screaming for safety.

High waves were reported in New Zealand, as far north as Alaska, and in the Pacific rim, where the waves were reported in Peru.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said that the eruption was one of the biggest in the past 30 years. They said that the explosion was so violent that it could be heard as loud thunder sounds in the far away country of Fiji.
Roger Musson, a seismologist at the British geological survey, told Sky News that this was the largest eruption it had produced.
He said that the volcano was seven times larger than the one that erupted a year or so ago.
Satellite images of the event showed a violent eruption, with data from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center saying waves of 80 centimeters had been detected.
