Six Rumored Apple Products You're Unlikely to See This Year

There is a lot of talk about what consumers can expect from Apple in 2022, but the company is also working on a number of rumored products that are not expected to be unveiled for at least another year.

That's assuming they get released. Some of the products Apple works on never see the light of day. This article summarizes what we believe Apple has in the future, and when these products could arrive further down the line.

The iPad has larger displays.

Mark Gurman, a journalist, said that Apple is working on larger iPad models.

The 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro are the biggest iPad that Apple has produced in recent years, and both sizes serve most people's needs, but there are arguments for Apple offering tablets that provide even more screen real estate.

While most users could have ergonomics issues holding an iPad larger than 12.9-inches for any length of time, a larger display mounted on a table would provide a giant sweeping canvas for creative designers and digital artists to work on. It would allow the iPad to adopt more Mac-like features, as it would bring the iPad closer to the screen dimensions of Apple's latest 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.

Significant software changes to iPadOS would be required to make such a display practicable. Gurman believes that larger iPads are not expected to launch in 2022, and are likely to come later.

2. The glasses are from Apple.

There is some confusion about Apple's plans in the space of augmented reality and virtual reality because of rumors that the company is working on at least two projects.

The headset is likely to be high-end and portable, but it won't be portable. It was described as an "all-encompassing 3-D digital environment" by the news agency.

The smart glasses are expected to provide a mobile-first, optical see-through augmented reality experience. Apple is said to be working with TSMC to develop "ultra-advanced" micro OLED displays less than one inch in size for the lens, which will feature displays that can be interacted with using gestures, and Apple will offer the glasses as an accessory, which will allow them to be slim

Most reports point to Apple's mixed reality headset being released early this year, although recent rumors suggest that it won't be released until 2022. There are conflicting rumors about the launch year of Apple's augmented reality glasses. Apple's original plan was for them to be launched in 2023, but Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has suggested a later date. They are in an early stage of development and are years away.

3. Apple TV has a speaker and camera.

According to Mark Gurman, Apple is working on a device with an integrated camera that will enable video calls through a connected television set.

The device's other capabilities include standard Apple TV features, as well as integrated smart speaker functions, which can be used to control music, voice control, and more.

The device is still being developed in Apple's labs. We're not likely to see it before the year is over. The Apple TV 4K was updated in April 2021, and is usually updated around every three years.

The rumored new device would represent a much more significant advancement in the Apple TV product line, and could always sit alongside the current Apple TV set-top box to firm up the company's broader home and audio strategy.

4. The speaker is mounted on a robotic arm.

A high-end speaker that includes an iPad-style display connected via a robotic arm that tracks and follows users around a room is being explored by Apple.

Apple is said to be working on a device that will compete with existing speakers with screens, such as Amazon's Echo 10, which uses facial recognition to keep users in the frame during calls.

This is the one product that is most likely to not see the light of day. The speaker should be considered a concept at this time, as its development is very much in the early stages.

Apple discontinued its original HomePod to focus on the HomePod mini, which has been much more popular since it was released in 2020.

5. Apple car

Apple's plan to launch a self-driving vehicle, dubbed "Project Titan," has seen a lot of twists and turns in the intervening years, and the Apple Car has faced several speed bumps on its development journey.

Vanarama created a concept for an Apple car.

Apple's work on an autonomously driving vehicle has been plagued by managerial shifts, changes in focus, and hiring issues since it began, and at one point it appeared that Apple was shifting towards developing the underlying technology for autonomously driving vehicles rather than building an automobile of its own.

The Apple Car project is moving forward with an ambitious aim of producing an electric vehicle that does not require human intervention, which no other car manufacturer has been able to achieve.

Apple is at a stage where it is talking with suppliers and making deals with manufacturing partners. Don't expect a self-driving car from Apple for a long time, even though the company says it will be out by the year 2025.

There is a Face ID under the display of the phone.

The plan to move Face ID under the display and use a single camera cutout to replace the notch appears to have been delayed this year, despite initial rumors claiming otherwise.

There were rumors that Apple would use a hole-punch design with Face ID, and that there would be a pill-shaped cutout instead.

Ross Young, a display industry consultant, has claimed that the next generation of the Apple device will have hole-punch and pill-shaped cutouts near the top of the display. Young thinks the hole will be for the Face ID dot projector, while the pill-shaped cutout will hold the front camera and an IR camera.

Young thinks that Face ID will be reserved for the iPhone 15 Pro or later, and that the IR camera will not be moved under the display until at least 2023 or 2024. Young's belief is supported by a long-term prediction by an analyst who has always claimed that Face ID won't be moved under the display until 2023.
