Senator Roger Marshall received un scortical FY 2020 financial disclosures from Dr. Anthony Fauci. Fauci called the senator a "moron" during a heated exchange in the Senate.
There is a lot of previously unknown information contained in the financial disclosures. The Fauci household has a net worth of more than $10 million.
Their household income increased by over $1M in the year of 2020, including federal income and benefits of $868,812, outside royalties and travel perks of $119,626, and investment accounts increasing by over $800,000.
The numbers are compiled by the auditors at OpenTheBooks.com, an organization I lead. This analysis used previously known information.
Investment income was $794,369.
The Fauci stock, bond, and money market portfolio had gains of over $800,000 in 2020. The total value of Dr. Fauci's investment account was $8.4 million, with his wife's investments totaling $2.1 million.
The funds were held in various accounts. Fauci has an IRA worth $638,519, a defined benefit brokerage account totaling $2,403,522, and a revocable trust worth $5,295,898. His wife's trust is worth nearly $2 million and an IRA is worth over $100,000.
Fauci has invested in broadly targeted mutual funds, no individual stocks, which has been the subject of innuendo.
Fauci has a stake in a San Francisco restaurant worth between $1,000 and $15,000, but he did not receive any income from the restaurant in FY 2020 or 2019.
The financial disclosures of Dr. Fauci were heavily redacted. Net worth analysis was impossible until now because fund balances were included in redactions.
$668,312 is the salary.
Dr. Fauci is the director of the National Institutes of Allergies and Infectious Diseases and his wife Christine is the chief bio-ethicist at the National Institutes of Health.
Fauci earned more in cash compensation than all 4.3 million federal employees, including the president and four-star generals. Dr. Fauci received cash compensation from his federal employer of more than 3 million dollars between 2010 and 2020. In my previous column, I wrote about Fauci's ten-year salary history.
The wife of Fauci made $234,700 in FY 2020 as disclosed by the National Institutes of Health. Since 2015, Grady has made over one million dollars in cash compensation.
Fauci's financial disclosures only show that Grady made $176,000.
Fauci's current salary and last year's salary are not disclosed by theNIH. Fauci earned an estimated $900,000 during the period.
The pension benefits are estimated at $200,000.
Federal employees have a lot of paid time off, subsidized healthcare, pension benefits and other perks. A rank-and-file federal employee gets 44 days of paid time off after three years. Dr. Fauci has worked for the federal government for 55 years.
A good faith estimate of the taxpayer cost of those benefits is 30 percent more if the salary of Dr. Fauci and his wife is included.
Fauci is expected to get a golden parachute retirement pension of $350,000 per year, the highest in federal history. Fauci would receive over $1 million in his first three years of retirement.
There are royalties and professional reimbursements.
Disclosures show that Dr. Fauci is on the board of the publisher of Harrison's Principals of Internal Medicine. Fauci received $100,000 as an editor in 2020. Fauci received $6,328 for a six-day trip to La Jolla, CA in July 2020 to attend a board meeting of the publisher.
OpenTheBooks filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit to get a copy of all royalties paid to current and retired scientists. The production is scheduled to start on February 1st, after a federal lawsuit was filed in October when the information was not released by theNIH.
Gifts and travel reimbursements are $13,298.
Fauci and his wife collected money to attend virtual Galas.

Fauci was paid $5,198 to attend the Samuael J. Heyman Service To America Medals awards program.
Fauci is scheduled to release their FY2021 disclosure in May. Interesting information should be contained in the disclosure. Fauci received a $1 million prize for speaking truth to power in January 2021, as reported by NPR.
Fauci probably kept $900,000 of that prize and gave 10 percent to the scholarship winners.
