Kirk Ferentz has a contract extension through the 2029 season.
The nation's longest-tenured coach is Ferentz, who just completed his 23rd season at Iowa. He will earn $7 million annually during the new contract, with a $500,000 base salary, $5.5 million in supplemental compensation and $1 million longevity bonus.
Ferentz was set to make $5.1 million next season, but he was signed through 2025.
He is the all-time winningest coach in Iowa history with 178 wins. Iowa won its first Big Ten West Division title in three years and finished in the final AP rankings.
Iowa has seven 10-win seasons under Ferentz, a former assistant who took over from Fry after the 1998 season.
Gary Barta, the athletic director, said thatKirk's leadership and success over 23 years has been amazing and appreciated. His success over the past 23 years speaks for itself. He is an asset to the University of Iowa. The foundation of his program is strong.
Sources say that Ferentz told the team before the Big Ten championship game that he intended to stay at Iowa for many more years. His new agreement is due to end in January of 2030.
