Tottenham v Arsenal: Gunners request postponement of north London derby

The last update was less than a minute ago.

The north London derby with Spurs at Spurs Stadium has been postponed because of a lack of available players.

Injuries, positive Covid-19 cases and players away with their countries at the Africa Cup of Nations have caused the Gunners to reluctantly take this step.

The board will consider the request on Saturday.

There have been 20 games that have been postponed this season.

On Friday it was announced that the home game between the two teams would not take place on Saturday because of injuries and Covid-19 cases.

If a club has 13 outfield players and one goalkeeper, they must play a game.

Granit Xhaka is suspended after he was sent off in the first half of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool, while three other players picked up injuries.

The side were already without Thomas Partey, Mohamed Elneny, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe, who are on international duty in Africa.

More to come.
