World’s First Waterproof iPhone With a Working USB-C Port Is Going Up for Auction

Three months ago, Ken Pillonel, an engineering student, was able to hack an Apple device with a working port, a feature that Apple still refuses to deliver. Gernot Jbstl has improved their creation with an improved execution that is completely waterproof, and you will be able to buy it soon.

The winning bid for the upgraded iPhone X was a staggering $86,001, and it was sold through an auction. That is for a device that is out of warranty because of its hardware upgrades. Apple users would upgrade in droves if the iPhone 14 had a port like the one in the MacBooks.

Jbstl used the work of Pillonel and the documentation on their GitHub page as a starting point for their own customized iPhone X. They created a custom support made of carbon fiber that helps ensure the connection won't come loose after repeated uses.

One of the best features of modern phones is their ability to bounce back from a drop in a puddle or accidental dunking in a toilet. It is a feature that is often compromised after a custom modification, but through the use of super glue that ends up mostly hidden away inside, Jbstl'susb-C iPhone X retains its waterproofness.

Jbstl plans to put their iPhone X up for auction on January 19 at 12pmEST (17:30 UTC) in order to raise money for further modding endeavors. Will it sell for more than $86,000? You will need a lot of money to win this auction if Apple doesn't reveal a new phone in the next five days.
