Earning Hyatt Globalist Status In Vegas On The Cheap

Hyatt Globalist Status is earned in Vegas.

I promise that this will be my last Vegas post. Pinky swears. Over the last week or two, I have been covering the new MGM rewards program. We have looked at how to get free status. The good side of things made me think. If you want to get World of Hyatt Globalist status, or Explorist status, Vegas is a good place to hit up a couple of stays. The MGM properties had resort fees that made it hard to find a great deal. Assuming status matched MGM Gold members get the perk, that should change in February. How much would it cost to run a mattress for 60 nights at the beginning of the year? Let's look at it!

Our thoughts on MGM rewards.

Shawn and I will discuss the good, bad and ugly on the MtM Vegas show if you are interested.

The cost to run a mattress in Vegas is high.

I don't think this is possible for most people. This is more of a thought exercise and you may want to hit up a few nights here and there. I didn't expect anyone to do the full 60 nights but I enjoyed digging into everything. If you live in California or Phoenix, you could do it from home. If you live in the Vegas area, you can get some elite nights on the cheap. If you were doing a major renovation on your house, it would work just as well.

I wanted to look at it from different angles. I will look at the cheapest 60 days over the next few months. If you wanted to do 60 days straight through, I would look at it.

Spending 60 nights in Vegas.

I pulled up the MGM site and did some dummy bookings. I thought the lowest price property would bounce between properties but it wasn't the case. Excalibur was the lowest priced location. The Luxor was only a few dollars more a night than it was a year ago.

The total cost for the 3 nights is $68 or $22.33 a night.
February 6-11 are five nights and cost $118 or $23.60 per night.
February 14-18 is a 4 night period.
February 21 to 25 are four nights and are either $88 or $22 per night.
February 27 to March 3 are five nights and cost $113 or $22.60 per night.
March 6-11 are five nights and cost $201 or $40.20 per night.
March 13 to 17 is a four night period with a price of $108 or $27 per night.
March 20-24, it's $135 or $27 a night.
March 27-31 is a five night period.
The nights are April 8 to April 12.
The nights are from April 10 to April 14.
April 17-21 is a five night period.
May 1 to May 6 nights are $162 or $27 per night.

The total cost for the 60 nights is $1,643 and it costs an average of $27.38 per night. Is Hyatt Globalist status worth close to $1700 out of pocket? I think most would say no, unless you could actually use the stays.

Living in a major city for two months for $850 isn't bad. It isn't doable because it doesn't include most weekends. It shows how you can pad your Hyatt statistics in Vegas. Pick one of the low cost weeks and get some cheap elite nights while on vacation. The prices could be even better if you log into your M life account. A friend was seeing nights for $9 at Luxor. Make sure they have a cost per night since full comp rooms won't earn elite nights.

If you wanted to stay 60 days straight, what would you do?

60 nights in Vegas for the lowest cash price is an example. It wouldn't make sense for someone to stay in town for a week and then leave. If you were a nomad and wanted to spend two months in Vegas, what would you do? How much would it cost?

Hyatt points were brought into the fold for this part of the exercise. The World of Hyatt points are worth 1.5 cents each. I would move to a Hyatt Place hotel in town if the cost of Excalibur was over $120 a night.

The total cost for the 3 nights is $68 or $22.33 a night.
The Hyatt Place has 16,000 points for two nights in February.
February 6-11 are five nights and cost $118 or $23.60 per night.
Hyatt Place will be open for three nights in February for 24,000 points.
February 14-19 are 5 nights and cost $197 or $39.40 per night.
The Hyatt Place has 8,000 points.
February 20-25, it's $169 or $33.80 per night.
The Hyatt Place has 16,000 points.
February 27 to March 11 are 12 nights.
The Hyatt Place will have 16,000 points for two nights in March.
March 13-18 are 5 nights and cost $192 or $38.40 per night.
Hyatt Place has 16,000 points for two nights in March.
March 20-26, it's either $258 or $43 per night.
The Hyatt Place will have 8,000 points on March 26 and 27.
March 27-31 is a five night period.
Hyatt Place has 8,000 points for April 1-2.

It would cost $1659 and 112,000 World of Hyatt points to stay in Vegas from February 1st to April 2nd. It's not cheap, but it's probably more affordable than any other major city in the US over the same period.

The final thoughts on earning Hyatt Globalist Status in Vegas.

I hope you enjoyed reading it. Someone will be able to pull it off. We have more nomads now than we did 2 years ago. If you enjoy Vegas, you may be able to get your status kicked off with a trip one of these weeks. It could be a way to have a cheap vacation.
