Apple AR/VR Headset Potentially Delayed Until 2023 Amid Development Problems

According to the report, Apple's long-rumored augmented reality/ virtual reality headset could be delayed until 2023 due to issues during the development process.

The concept is based on Ian Zelbo's leaked information.

According to the report, Apple originally planned to launch the headset in 2021. The product is unlikely to be launched in June 2022, due to a number of development issues.

overheating, camera and software challenges are said to be facing the headset. The device is rumored to feature two chips, and at least one of them will be similar to the M1 Pro from the latest MacBook Pro models. overheating issues are thought to be caused by the thermal demands of this chip.

Sir Jony Ive rejected the idea of using an external processor device that would transmit data to the headset. Around 2,000 Apple employees are working on the augmented reality headset.

The launch of the headset is being delayed because of the development problems. The device is unlikely to be released until 2023, but Apple is still pushing vendors to have units available for the end of 2022, according to a report. The cameras for the headset are due to be produced in the second quarter of this year.

The company is said to be planning to focus on building virtual and augmented reality apps in the upcoming WWDC in 2023. The headset is rumored to be called "rOS," internally called "Oak."

Built-in support for the headset is said to be part of the device that will be called "Sydney". This means that Apple could theoretically preview technical aspects of the headset or its software, without showing the full device.

The device's more advanced display, chip, and audio technologies made it worth more than $2,000. The company had originally expected to sell one headset per retail store, but it now expects sales to reach seven million to 10 million units in its first year.
