The hackers behind the MacBook Pro leak have been arrested in Russia, according to a press release.
Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) arrested 14 members of the "REvil" criminal association, which used malicious software to extort funds from companies.
REvil attacked a Taiwanese Apple supplier. Seven months before the device was officially unveiled, the group posted stolen schematic of the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.
The new MacBook Pro has a full-size function keys instead of the Touch Bar, and more. The leak aided repair technicians.
The initial leaked documents vanished just days after REvil threatened to release more of them if Apple did not pay a $50 million ransom. Several governments launched a combined effort to take REvil offline.
REvil ceased to exist and its information infrastructure was destroyed after the latest arrests. REvil's funds have been taken from 25 addresses in Russia, with over $5.5 million worth of items. The U.S. authorities were also informed of the development.
