Sergino Dest was left out of the squad for the Spanish Supercopa but is determined to fight for his place, according to sources.

Sources at the club refuse to rule out an exit this month. The right-back's departure could help fund a new strikers move, as he has fallen out of favor with the new coach.

Xavi would like to add a No.9 to the team. Morata is on a loan from Atlante Madrid and is not allowed to leave without a replacement in place.

In December, it was revealed that Barcelona would be open to offers for Dest in January. Dest would like to stay in Spain and fight for his place.

The player's camp believes that Xavi is not yet at his best. Dest has suffered from a number of injuries this season and was not fully fit in November and December in an unfamiliar attacking role, which set back his recovery.

Dest, who tested positive for COVID-19 at the start of January, is ready to compete for a place in the right-back position with Oscar Mingueza and Pedro. Cesar Azpilicueta is a player that Barcelona are interested in signing when his contract with the Blues expires in the summer.

Arthur Melo was convinced to leave Barcelona after taking similar stances to Dest. In the summer of 2020 Arthur agreed to join Juventus and in the beginning of this season, Emerson moved to Spurs.

Dest was signed by Barcelona for 20 million. The German club has been in contact with the player since, and they've talked about a loan move for him this season with an option to make the deal permanent next summer for around 25m.

The Blues have shown an interest in a short-term deal until the end of the season. The situation is being tracked by several other sides, and they are pushing ahead with a move for Valencia's Daniel Wass to replace Trippier.

Dest joined Ronald Koeman 18 months ago and became a regular. He has played in 41 games in his first full season at Camp Nou, but injuries have limited him to just 16 games so far.
