NHL All-Star Game rosters revealed, with some big names omitted amid 3-on-3 format

6:54 PM

The NHL has revealed its rosters for the All-Star Game in Las Vegas in 2022.

The Metropolitan, Atlantic, Central and Pacific teams will play in a 3-on-3 tournament during the All-Star Game. Last season's All-Star Game did not happen due to the shortened season, but it is the first one since.

The All-Star Game will be on February 5. The Skills Competition will take place the day before on Feb. 4 on ABC. The arena is in Las Vegas.

Each team has 11 players. The 10 players for each team include a team captain who is voted in by the fans, and nine players who were selected by NHL Hockey Operations. The NHL has selected one player for each team to be voted in by the fans as the "last man in" and the remaining player will also be voted in by the fans. Voting ends at midnight. On Monday.

The NHL All-Star rosters are for 2022.

The division is Metropolitan.

The forwards are Sebastian Aho, Carolina Hurricanes, Claude Giroux, Philadelphia Flyers, Jack Hughes, New Jersey, and Chris Kreider, New York Rangers.

Defensemen: Adam Fox, New York Rangers; Adam Pelech, New York Islanders.

The Carolina Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen and the Pittsburgh Penguins' Tristan Jarry are the goalies.

The "last man in" ballot is as follows: Mathew Barzal, New York Islanders; Jake Guentzel, Pittsburgh Penguins; and Andrei Svechnikov, Carolina Hurricanes.

The Atlantic Division.

The forwards are: Drake Batherson, the Senators; Jonathan Huberdeau, the Panthers; Dylan Larkin, the Red Wings; and Auston Matthews, the Maple Leafs.

Defensemen: Victor Hedman, the Lightning.

Jack Campbell, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Andrei Vasilevskiy, Tampa Bay Lightning, are the goalies.

"Last Man In" ballot: Steven Stamkos, Tampa Bay Lightning; John Tavares, Toronto Maple Leafs; Tage Thompson, Buffalo Sabres.

The central division is made up of divisions.

The forwards are: Alex DeBrincat, Chicago Hawks; Kyle Connor, Winnipeg Jets; Kirill Kaprizov, Minnesota Wild; Nathan MacKinnon, Colorado Avalanche; and Jordan Kyrou, St. Louis Blues.

Cale Makar is a defenseman for the Colorado Avalanche.

Goalies: Juuse Saros, Nashville, and Cam Talbot, Minnesota.

Ryan Hartman, Minnesota Wild, is on the "last man in" ballot.

The Pacific Division.

The forwards are Leon Draisaitl, Jordan Eberle, Johnny Gaudreau, Adrian Kempe, and Mark Stone.

Alex Pietrangelo is a defenseman for the Vegas Golden Knights.

Thatcher Demko and John Gibson are the goalies.

Jonathan Marchessault, Vegas Golden Knights; Drew Doughty, Los Angeles Kings; Mark Giordano, Seattle Kraken; and Matthew T are on the "last man in" ballot.

Carolina's Rod Brind'Amour, Florida's Andrew Brunette, Colorado's Jared Bednar, and Vegas's Peter DeBoer will coach their divisions in the All-Star Game.

The 3-on-3 format is not a traditional All-Star selection process. Sidney Crosby, Artemi Panarin, Brad Marchand, William Nylander, and Morgan Rielly are not on the All-Star roster.

The NHL season will resume after the All-Star Weekend, as the league opted out of allowing its players to participate in the Beijing Olympics due to the disruption of its regular-season schedule. Canada's restrictions on arena capacity and an outbreak on teams caused the NHL to delay close to 130 games.

The NHL has a policy of missing one game before or after the All-Star break for players who are named to the All-Star Game roster but not participate in the event, according to Bill Daly.
