After the NHL decided not to play in the Winter Games in 2022, USA Hockey went back to college for the Beijing Olympics men's team.

The final Olympic roster includes 15 current NCAA players. The rest of the team is made up of professional players from Europe and the American Hockey League.

John Vanbiesbrouck, the general manager of the team, said that they are fortunate to have a deep talent pool and that they are looking forward to competing for a gold medal in Beijing.

The Winter Olympic men's hockey tournament is without NHL players. The US Olympic team was made up of professional players that weren't under NHL contract. The Americans lost in a shootout to the Czech Republic in their pool play.

The only returning player from the team is Brian O'Neill, who plays for the Russia's Kontinental Hockey League.

The majority of the U.S. men's hockey team in the future will be taken from college hockey.

You can win that tournament if you go there. He said this week that it was wide open. Germany was close to winning a gold medal. Who would have thought that? The teams are facing their own challenges this year, just like they were when we went. Everyone is adjusting since the NHL was expected to be there. They're trying to figure out what to do. The work we did leading up to the tournament was going to give us the best chance to win. Along with having players who wanted to wear the U.S.A. sweater and be their best for two weeks.
