Colts general manager Chris Ballard isn't ready to commit to a starter for the team's next season.
After the Colts didn't make the playoffs and the Eagles played two of their worst games of the season, the comments were made by the Colts' general manager. The Colts gave up first and third-round picks in the upcoming draft to acquire the Eagles' quarterback.
After Philip River's retirement, we made the decision to move on, and I still don't regret it, at the time," he said. I won't make a comment on who is going to be here next year and who isn't going to be here next year. That's not fair to a player.
The Colts were hoping to stop the revolving door at quarterback that has been turning since Andrew Luck retired in August 2019. The retired Rivers was replaced by the younger Wentz.
"I would like to stop Band-Aiding it," he said. I would like for Carson to be the long-term answer or someone who will be here for the next decade. Sometimes it doesn't work out that way. I can dream about it, wish about it, but you do the best you can with what you have.
Reich wanted to get back to the way he was when he was the quarterback's offensive coordinator in Philadelphia.
There was some good and bad from the Colts this season. They were a run-first team with running back Jonathan Taylor, who led the NFL in rushing, but they also expected Wentz to be able to make plays when teams loaded up the box to stop the run. That wasn't always the case.
The Colts only needed to win one of their final two games to make the playoffs, and they did just that. In the final eight games of the season, he threw for at least 200 yards in two of them. In the upset loss to the Jags, the quarterback had a career-low Total QBR.
Make layups. Make layups. "Make the layups," he said. Carson wants to win. He has a will to win. Sometimes you think you have to make a big play all the time. The team can help you make the layups.

Colts GM Chris Ballard is a big fan of the Eagles quarterback.
The Colts have some core pieces on the roster in Taylor, Leonard, and the majority of the offensive line. They will not be able to make the playoffs or make a run in the playoffs until they figure out who the quarterback is.
"I think we have a lot of really good players and really good pieces," he said. You have to have a stable quarterback position. The position he plays has to help the team win. I'm not blaming anyone. I'm not saying that everyone else has to do their job.
"But the importance of that position is real." You have to be consistent there. We thought we had it until the end of the season, but we've been pretty good. We have to continue to work on it.
