The company has never been great at meeting deadlines, so it is not surprising that the Cybertruck is running a little late. The production schedule for the year of 2022, was removed from the website recently.

The Cybertruck was supposed to roll off production lines in late 2021. In August of that year, full production was delayed. The deadline seems to have been nixed as well.

The order page on the Cybertruck site previously told buyers that they would be able to complete their configuration as production nears. The year was removed from the archives of the site at the end of December 2021, with the statement: "You will be able to complete your configuration as production nears."

Delays could be linked to the chip shortage, the pandemic, and the design challenges.

There are a lot of factors that could contribute to a delay. External challenges include the ongoing Pandemic and the global chip shortage, as well as Cybertruck-specific problems. The vehicle is controversial, attracting awe and disdain in equal measure, but it also comes with unique design challenges, like the problem of creating a huge windshield wiper to cover the mammoth front window.

The Cybertruck might be a relatively low priority for the company since its other vehicles have had great years. The Model 3 became the first EV to top monthly sales charts in Europe, and the company delivered close to 1 million cars in 2021, an impressive 87 percent increase on shipments in 2020.

The electric truck market could prove to be a very lucrative one for competitors. Ford will double production of its F-150 Lightning, Rivian will start shipping its first R1Ts to customers, and brands like Hummer and Chevy will have their own electric trucks in the late 2020s.

The company risks losing potential customers if it doesn't delay. We should know more about the vehicle soon. On the next earnings call, Musk will give an update for the Cybertruck. January 26th is the date. It's not long to wait.
