Microsoft has stopped making consoles. The software giant stopped manufacturing the Xbox One S at the end of 2020 and left retailers to sell out their remaining stock.

Cindy Walker, senior director of Xbox console product marketing, said in a statement that production of all Xbox One consoles would be stopped by the end of 2020.

A report by agence France-Presse suggested that Sony would stop making PS4 consoles at the end of 2021, but that it would still make a million consoles in the next few years. Sony has confirmed that production of the PS4 is still going on, despite the struggles of both Microsoft and Sony to meet demand for their latest consoles.

Microsoft seems to be able to meet demand. The Xbox Series S is in stock at both Amazon in the UK and Best Buy in the US. Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft's Xbox division, told The Verge that the Series S would win out over the Series X because of the lower price point.

Spencer said that they can build more of the Series S in the same die space as they can the Series X. That is one of the reasons why we are seeing steady stock of the Series S consoles.
