The Brooklyn Nets defeated the Chicago Bulls in a battle of the top two teams in the Eastern Conference. Kevin Durant had 27 points and nine assists for Brooklyn.

James Harden had 25 points and 16 assists. Patty Mills had 21 points off the bench on 6-of-8 shooting. Day'Ron had 20 points. The third quarter was when the Nets scored the most.

In his third game of the season, Nets point guard Kyrie Irving had just nine points on 4-of-10 shooting. He had an ankle injury and was questionable for the game. Irving can't play in home games for Brooklyn because he's unvaccinated, and he can't play in road games because of New York City's vaccine mandates.

The Nets trail the Bulls by 1.5 games for first place in the East. Brooklyn's first win of the year was against a top-four team.

The Bulls lost their second game in a row. The team had two players with 19 points, DeMar DeRozan and LaVine.

Harden is looking for his chance in Brooklyn.

Harden was the one who made the Nets go. He did an excellent job with his decision-making as the team's primary creator of the offense.

Harden looked like the best player in the league as he was both a scorer and a passer for Brooklyn.

The Nets were able to get high-percentage shots because of the play of Harden. Brooklyn shot 50 percent in the first half.

It's a make-or-miss league, but the #Nets shot profile will give them a good chance. Paint looks good on open corner 3s. Irving hasn't scored yet.

Brooklyn's offense continued to grow in the second half. He got himself going from three-point range and did a great job with his distribution. The Nets went on a 30-8 run to end the third quarter and blow the game open.

It's almost a given that he will deliver on a nightly basis, as he has been a constant for the Nets all season. Harden had a slow start to the season, but it seems like he's rounding back into form. He had at least 25 points and 10 assists for the second game in a row. He played a clean game.

The Nets will be able to push for an NBA Finals appearance if Harden can continue to make the right decisions. Brooklyn made a statement with Wednesday's win and should be considered the top contender in the Eastern Conference.

The duo of DeRosa and LaVine are not enough for Chicago.

The Bulls have one of the most potent duos in the league. They were able to keep the game close for Chicago.

The second half was when Brooklyn put the clamps on LaVine and the Chicago offense came to a halt. The Bulls shot 30.4 percent from the field in the third quarter, hitting one of their nine three-point attempts.

The Nets out-hustled the Bulls all over the floor after the game got out of hand. The normally strong Bulls defense had no answer for Brooklyn's stars.

The only other players to score in double figures for Chicago were Coby White and Nikola Vucevic.

The Bulls team we've been used to seeing this season is not the same as Wednesday's game. They had the chance to make a statement against a team that was considered the favorite in the Eastern Conference but went cold in the second half. It's the type of game that Chicago will have to put in the past and move forward in order to remain among the top teams.

What's next?

The Nets will host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday. The Golden State Warriors are coming to town.
