The decision over whether the defending champion can stay in the country is dragging on.

The Serb has been drawn against the other.

Britain's US Open champion Emma Raducanu faces American world number 68 Sloane Stephens in the first round of the New York major.

The Australian Open is the first Grand Slam of the year and will be held in Melbourne Park.

The draw was supposed to be announced at 3pm local time but was delayed by an hour and fifteen minutes.

Andy Murray was drawn against 21st seed Nikoloz Basilashvili, a day after beating the Georgian to reach the Sydney quarter-finals.

The British men's number one is facing American Sebastian Korda, while Dan Evans is playing David Goffin.

The only other British woman to have qualified directly for the main draw is Heather Watson.

Australian world number one Ashleigh Barty starts her quest for a first home Grand Slam title against a qualifer, while defending champion Naomi Osaka opens against a player from the other side of the world.

Barty could face Osaka in the fourth round, as she returns after a four-month break from the sport.

More to come.
