The iCloud Private Relay feature on cellular networks has been a problem for some users, but Apple has denied that is because of the last month's update. T-Mobile claimed to have identified that the feature was toggled off by default, but other carriers said they weren't blocking it.

That is not the case according to Apple. Apple issued a statement to 9to5Mac saying that the problem with the new version of iOS 15.2 wasn't the language in the settings. There were no changes made to the feature in the latest version of the operating system. Users are encouraged to check their settings to see if Private Relay is enabled on their device.

T-Mobile said that the feature didn't go off after all, as reported by 9to5Mac. The carrier says that Apple doesn't change customers' settings when they update toiOS 15.2 Customers may see an error message if they previously toggled on the iCloud Private Relay or Limit IP Address Tracking off.

It is not clear what caused all of this confusion, but the carriers say they are not blocking iCloud Private Relay, so it is worth double-checking your cellular settings to make sure. The language in settings won't tell you that your cell plan doesn't support the feature once the public version is out.
