Charles Sylvia, vice president of trade relations, urged travel advisors to ask their clients not to cancel cruises because of the CDC's Level 4 travel warning.
Sylvia reiterated the position of the cruise line trade group that they were "perplexed" by the CDC's decision to raise the travel warning and direct Americans.
He said travel advisors need to be aware of how safe cruising is compared to other travel and leisure activities.
He said they had done a lot of work. We've come together as an industry, and we've got this figured out. We need you to speak with your clients in an informed way, and we need you to have confidence and empathy, because I know that they're calling with concerns.
Sylvia asked if they should not cancel, because she is a 28-year travel advisor. They should not cancel and explain why.

More than 2 million people have sailed on our ships safely since the restart, so advisors should have statistics ready.

It's at your fingertips, there's so much great information. It was shared with all of the hosts of the franchises and large agencies so that you can speak confidently and in an informed way, and it was also shared with all of the travel trade members so that they can speak confidently and in an informed way.
