Sources told ESPN that Damian Lillard is going to have surgery to address an abdominal injury.

A final decision on the procedure is expected to be made this week after consultations with doctors. Sources said that the procedure will keep him out at least 6 to 8 weeks, but his recovery time could be determined by the course the team takes.

The last time he played was on December 31.

The Portland team is 4-7 this season without their star player, and they are in 10th place in the Western Conference. The backcourt star is out indefinitely after collapsing.

Team USA had a player injured at the Tokyo Olympics. He has battled the issue all season as his shooting and scoring numbers have gone down. In 29 games, the six-time All-Star is averaging 24 points and 7.3 assists.

The road trip begins Thursday.
