Nearly 60% Of Americans Worry Democracy ‘In Danger Of Collapse,’ Poll Suggests

According to a survey, Americans agree that the nation is in danger, even though they disagree on many issues.

The US Capitol in Washington was attacked by Trump supporters on January 6, 2021.

The poll found that almost half of respondents think that the nation's democracy is in danger of collapse.

The issue was one of the few where there was agreement across party lines, with the poll finding that Americans are deeply divided on whether former President Donald Trump should run in 2024 or if it is time to move on from the January 6, 2021, attack.

The attack on the U.S. Capitol should be remembered, according to 50% of respondents, including 85% of Democrats.

The majority of respondents said that it is either very or somewhat likely that another attack will take place, with 69% of Democrats and 36% of Republicans holding that view.

Some 61% of respondents said former President Donald Trump bears some responsibility for the Capitol attack, and 59% said he shouldn't run for president in 2024, but 69% of Republicans said they'd want Trump to run again.

The poll was conducted by the University of Michigan between January 7 and January 10.

More bad news for Democrats was brought about by the findings of Quinnipiac. President Joe Biden's approval rating fell to 32% among all adults in a recent poll, a three-percentage-point drop from his 36% approval rating in a November survey. Biden has an approval rating of 42%. Biden was struggling with groups that had been considered reliably Democratic in recent times, such as young people and Hispanics. The poll showed that Biden had an approval rating of just 24% among those ages 18-34 and 28% among Hispanics.

What to watch for.

According to the poll, the Republicans have a good chance of winning in the next election. When asked which party should win a majority in the House, respondents favored the GOP over the Democrats by a wide margin. More Americans are hoping that Republicans take control of Congress.

The key background.

Voters on the political spectrum agree that the nation is in trouble, but they differ on the facts behind the danger. Republicans seem to be driven in large part by Trump's repeated claims of widespread fraud in the 2020 presidential election, with 71% of GOP respondents saying they believe the claims, even though they have been continually disproved. Democrats think Trump is endangering the country and that he bears responsibility for the January 6, 2021, riot. The attack was the focus of national media attention last week, as Biden gave a speech where he blamed Trump for dividing the country, while Trump released a series of statements about election fraud.

There is a structure called the Tangent.

A number of Republican figures slammed Trump's false fraud claims last week, leading to an angry response from the ex-president in one case. After Rounds called the 2020 election fair, Trump released a statement ripping the senator and promising to never endorse him again.

Republicans have taken the biggest congressional poll lead over Democrats.

Biden blames Trump for January 6 insurrection.

A poll suggests that more voters want Trump to run than Biden.

GOP figures are against Trump's re-hashing of election fraud claims.
