This might be the last time anyone hears of Rodgers' toe.

The Packers quarterback said his toe injury won't be an issue in the playoffs. Rodgers took part in the first of two practices the team will hold during their bye.

He practiced more than one day a week since he fractured his left pinkie toe in early November, but it wasn't until last week that he practiced more than one day.

Rodgers said he has not needed a pain-killing injection recently. He said the toe got stepped on in the first half of the game against Cleveland on Christmas Day. He said after the game that he felt better after taking care of it at halftime.

"I haven't taken one in a while, so that's been the most encouraging thing," Rodgers said. I didn't do one last week. It was a standard shot in the toe and it was very painful. I was able to get through the games because of that. The goal was to not have to do that. It's been a few games without that. I practiced today and feel good, but I think I will be fine by next week.

The Packers' playoff seeding was not affected by Rodgers playing only in the first half of the Detroit Lions game. They had secured the top seed in the playoffs. The players will not be practicing this week, but will be given the weekend off. It's possible they won't know their opponent until Monday night after the wild-card game.

The goal this week is simple, said Rodgers.

He said to rest. Rest. I'm about to go home and it's 12:22 in the afternoon. That's pretty sweet. I'm going to take a break. It's the end of the season, so you don't have time for a messy house after Christmas and New Year's. I'm going to clean my house, I'm going to rest, and I'm going to read some books. That's what I'm getting out of this week.

Za'Darius Smith was back at practice on Wednesday for the first time since he had back surgery. During the portion of practice open to the media, he took part in all the drills. He has only played 18 snaps this season.

"We're trying to get him to a position where we feel comfortable, where he can go out there and compete at a high level, but also he hasn't been really in the system other than one game," LaFleur said. "So we have to make sure he understands his job responsibility first and foremost because as we've seen so many times throughout the course of the season, when we have all 11 guys on the same page doing their responsibility and owning their roles, I think our defense can be pretty good." If you have undisciplined play, you get beat. We want to re-acclimate him to practice and see how it goes before we make a plan. We have this week and next week to get him up to speed.

Billy Turner was back at practice. He hasn't played in a month because of a knee injury. The regular-season finale saw the return of center Josh Myers and left tackle David Bakhtiari. On Wednesday, the team called it "load management" on his reconstructed left knee, which caused him to not practice.

Randall Cobb practiced again on Wednesday and appears to be on track to return for the first playoff game, despite not practicing Wednesday because of a back injury.
