Ben Roethlisberger knows that his team probably isn't supposed to be in the playoffs. The 39-year-old knows from experience that crazy things can happen when a team gets into the playoffs.

I would think that you understand that we probably aren't supposed to be here. We probably aren't a very good football team. We're probably number 14 out of 14 teams. We're going to the No. 1 team, and we're 20-point favorites. They're not the top seed, but they're the best team in football.

We don't have a chance. Let's just play and have fun.

The Kansas City Chiefs have played in the Super Bowl the last two seasons and are just 12.5-point favorites over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Three weeks ago, in Week 16, the Chiefs beat the Steelers 36-10) and secured their spot in the playoffs.

The Jacksonville Jaguars needed to upset the Indianapolis Colts and the Los Angeles Clippers to get to this game.

The playoff hopes of the Steelers were in danger late Sunday night into early Monday morning as the Raiders and Bolts went to overtime and were within seconds of a tie. Daniel Carlson kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired to give the Steelers a victory.

Roethlisberger was at home watching the game with two friends, one of whom was a Christian music artist named Bart Millard. Roethlisberger wore a helmet signed by Lechler and Janikowski during the Raiders' last drive in overtime.

Sunday night was the only time you will ever see Ben Roethlisberger do this.

"I wish I would have gone to bed instead of being stressed out," Roethlisberger said. What a crazy game. It was a crazy ending. You are excited about getting in and then your hopes start to diminish as the night goes on. You think they're going to play for the tie after the last drive. There are other plans out there.

The 2005 Super Bowl run by the No. 6 seed Steelers felt like a repeat of this year's push.

"I wanted to go win for him because you know what he meant," Roethlisberger said. Maybe the current teammates feel the same way. I don't know. It's not like he came to me and said, "Alright, let's go win it for me." He did not have to say that. We wanted to win it for him.

The Colts lost to the Steelers in the regular season, but they were able to beat them in the playoffs. Roethlisberger cautioned against drawing too many comparisons between the two groups.

He said that the team was a pretty good one. Hall of Famers were on it. We have some good football players here. I think we have a long way to go to compare ourselves to that team.

... These guys were in middle school or elementary school. The team was a good one. We are not as good of a football team as we were. Anything can happen.
