A league source told the website that the Buccaneers reworked the contract of the star defensive lineman before the season ended.

Up to $1 million in incentives will be tied to playing time and team-related success for the one-year deal that Suh has with the Bucs. The five-time Pro Bowler will make $200,000 for every victory that he has in the playoffs.

To be eligible for those earnings, he had to meet a number of regular-season conditions.

If he played at least 70% of the defensive snaps for the Bucs, they would improve their league or conference rankings in touchdown on returns and recoveries, and he would make $200,000 and be eligible for the playoffs.

The Bucs entered the Carolina game with two returns and recoveries, one more than last season, but Suh's playing time was at only 64.18%. According to a source, the playing-time condition was eliminated on Saturday, so that if he did not play a snap against the Carolinas, he would be eligible for the playoffs.

In terms of touchdown on returns and recoveries, the team finished in a tie for 11th in the league, up from 20th in 2020.

The 10th straight regular season that he has not missed a game, was the reason why Suh was a stalwart again for the Bolts. He finished with 27 tackles and six sacks, teaming with fellow defensive tackle Vita Vea to anchor a defense that ranked third in the NFL against the run.
