First 12 things to do with your new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3

Daniel Bader is a source.

We've seen a lot of foldable phones in the last few months, but none can match the prowess or flexibility of the foldable phone released bySamsung. There are a few things to try out before you pick one up. We're not talking about the setup process or the best apps.

We're taking a look at some of the first features and settings that you should change, such as getting rid of Bixby and customizing all four screens.

The first thing you'll want to do after signing in and getting the best apps is to get your hands on the Galaxy Z Fold 3. You can change the look of the Z Fold 3 with two different screens and two different lock screens. OneUI is one of the best Android launchers out there, and it ships with the phone, so you might find yourself enjoying it.

You will want to take these steps to modify the layout of your Home Screen.

Hold on to the empty space on your Home Screen.
The settings option can be found in the bottom toolbar.

You can modify the following options.

Home screen layout.
Home screen grid.
There are apps on the screen grid.
The folder grid has items in it.

There are more options to tinker with. The cover screen and home screen match at all times. If you have more than one page on the cover screen, each page will appear as part of the big display. It's a nice idea for people who rely on their muscles to remember things. It doesn't look great in practice.

2. Your battery life can be extended.

The smaller battery in the Z Fold 3 is a disappointment. With the 120Hz refresh rate added to the cover screen, there's even more chance you'll need to reach for the charge before the end of the day.

Dark Mode can help extend your battery life. This isn't enabled out of the box, but it can help you get through the day.

The settings app is to be opened.
You can tap the display.
At the top of the page, tap Dark Mode.
To set a schedule for Dark mode, tap the settings.

Turn on as scheduled.
You can choose Sunset to sunrise or a custom schedule.

This isn't the only way to save battery life, but using Dark Mode with the panels of the phone will help.

3. It's multi task away.

The real power of the Z Fold 3 comes from multitasking, which is why it's one thing to enjoy all of your apps on the larger display. Flex Mode has been improved and you can use up to three apps at the same time in different windows. This windowed mode allows you to be on a video call, take notes, and keep up with your social media accounts at the same time.

These steps will help you start using apps in these windows.

You can open any app that you want.
The Edge Panel bar is on your display.
You can drag an app from the tray to open it.

The app icon should be removed.

That's it! You can add a third app if you have two apps running side-by-side. Drag and drop it over either side of the screen after following the steps above. Two apps will be running on one side, while the third app spans the length of the other screen.

This is possible if you want to change the size of the apps. Take the two dots between the two apps and rearrange them. You will be greeted with even more options if you tap on these dots.

You can switch window.
Take a clockwise turn.
Edge panel can be added with app combo.

The Z Fold 3's massive display is something that you can truly take advantage of.

4. There are apps on the big screen.

If you've never owned or used a foldable phone, chances are you've heard about the issue where some apps don't fill up the entire screen. The development of the tabletUI has never come to fruition, so it's the biggest offenders.

You can force any app to open in full-screen if you want, thanks to the ingenuity of the company. Here's how you can get those apps to appear the way you want.

The settings app is to be opened.
Click Advanced features to scroll down.
There is a tap lab.
You can modify app aspect ratios.
The search icon is in the top right corner.
You can search for the app.

The app has a tap on it.
Select Full screen from the pop-up menu.

Voila! The next time you open an app, it will be across the entire screen.

5. You can pin your apps.

There's a new feature that could make the Z Fold 3 888-282-0465 888-282-0465 888-282-0465 888-282-0465 888-282-0465. All of our computers have a "dock", which is a place where they can be repaired. While that's true, it's not the case that the Z Fold 3 owners can pin a select set of apps to the side of the display.

There is an app drawer button and you can access App Pairs from here. Think of it as a true "dock" as it is always at the ready, just like you would find when using Windows or Chrome OS.

We're jumping back into labs for this one, but we can show you how to pin the Taskbar to the edge of the Z Fold 3's display.

The settings app is to be opened.
Click Advanced features to scroll down.
There is a tap lab.

The screen will adjust to make way for the Taskbar. If you want to add more apps to the list, just tap the icon with six-dots, find the app, and drag and drop it onto the Taskbar. If you don't like the Taskbar as much, you can un-pin it from your screen by using the Pin icon.

6. Your phone will feel better.

Between the 12GB of RAM and the 120% increase in the speed of the phone, it might already feel fast. Reducing the animation scales can be used to take things to the next level. You need to unlock Developer Options before you can do that.

The settings app is to be opened.
Go to the bottom and tap About phone.
There is software information that you can tap.

The build number was tapped seven times.
If prompted, enter your password.

You can see the option on the left side of the screen now that Developer Options have been unlocked.

There are options to tap.
Continue scrolling until you find the following.

The window animation scale is small.
Transition animation scale.
Animator duration scale.

Each of these should be changed to 0.25x.

You can exit the settings app.

The 120Hz adaptive refresh rate will make you feel like you're flying around your phone.

7. The keyboard should be switched up.

You can use a split-screen keyboard by default. It's designed so that you don't have to stretch your thumbs to reach the middle of the screen.

It sounds like a good plan, but there's a definite learning curve if you rely on gestures to send and reply to emails. Thankfully, you can return to a normal keyboard layout.

Text entry is used in the app.
The top toolbar has the gear icon.

When you pull up the keyboard again, it will show you a traditional layout without any gaps in the middle.

8. Don't bother with Bixby.

For better or worse, the default voice assistant is Bixby. While we like the idea of a routine, we don't think that Bixby is as good as the other assistants. When you hold the button, the power button is mapped to the box. There is a way to change the power menu.

The settings app is to be opened.
Click Advanced Features to scroll down.
The side key is easy to use.

Press and hold, then tap the Power off menu.

You can change what gesture is performed when you double-press the power button. The Camera app is set to launch, but you can also choose to open an app of your choice.

9. You can turn your Fold 3 into a portable charge.

If you picked up the Buds 2 or the Watch 4, you might need to get more power. This is where you can use Wireless Power Share to turn your phone into a portable wireless charging device. You can turn it back on if it's turned off from the box.

The settings app is to be opened.
Go to the bottom and tap the battery and device care.
The battery can be tapped.

Wireless power sharing is possible.

The On position is reached by pressing the top button.
The battery limit should be set at the bottom.

By setting the battery limit, you will be able to decide when your phone will stop sharing its juice. When you put your accessories on the back of the Z Fold 3, you'll be able to borrow the battery.

10. The good cameras can be used for selfies.

The under-display camera is not the best for selfies. The 10MP cover screen selfie camera is better than the other ones, but it's still not the best. The Z Fold 3's primary 12MP wide-angle camera can be used if you enable cover screen preview.

The camera app is open.
The rectangular icon is in the top right corner.

The source of the information is the Android Central.

It's very simple. When you turn the phone on, you'll be able to see a preview of the image on the cover screen while using the primary rear camera. You won't find a shutter button, so you have to use either the Volume Up or Volume Down button to take the picture.

11. Break notifications.

It's still too aggressive when it comes to RAM management for OneUI to be as great as it is. Some of the most useful apps can be put to sleep because of this. The problem with doing so is that you may not get notifications quickly.

To fix this, we need to look at the battery settings.

The settings app is to be opened.
Go to the bottom and tap the battery and device care.
The battery can be tapped.

Select the limits you want.

The trade-off is that the apps you choose may drain more battery. If you want to get notifications for specific apps as soon as they arrive, then this solution is necessary.

12. Accessorize your Z Fold.

Nick Sutrich is from Android Central.

The process of finding new and fun accessories for their phones is a pleasure. The case makers have been working on new cases and accessories for the Z Fold 3. The case from the Z Fold 2 and Z Fold 3 won't be the same as the one from the Z Fold 2.

If you're looking for the best cases for the Z Fold, we have them.

Z Fold 3 users rate the official case of the company poorly. The DOOTOO case is made of stronger material and has a kickstand to make video watching on that massive screen even more enjoyable.

Since the Z Fold 3 doesn't have a charger in the box, you're going to want to grab one. The maximum charging speed is 25W, which is the same as what the Z Fold 3 can handle.

The Z Fold 3's softer inner display made it necessary for the S Pen Fold Edition to be made specifically for it.

If you've found yourself needing to charge multiple devices at the same time, the SAMSUNG CHARGER TRIO is a great option. It works with any device that has a Qi connection, and it has a cradle for your watch.

Enjoy the future with the Z Fold 3.

Regardless of how you look at it, the Samsung Z Fold 3 is one of the best phones you can buy and is arguably the most full-featured phone we've ever seen. It folds in half and fits in your pocket just like any other phone, even though you might be put off by the massive display.

If you happen to pick one up for yourself, we recommend having fun with it. You can learn everything you can about this device by going through the settings, screens, and panels.
