The airline sent a replacement aircraft to pick up passengers instead of canceling the flight because of the damaged Boeing.
It is not clear what the man wanted to accomplish. It is not clear what the gain was from preventing him from jumping out the window, as many passengers would have been in favor.
The guy traveled back in time to do what he had to do because he knew that the plane would destroy humanity.

The pilot used the first class lavatory about 50 minutes before the touchdown. A passenger got up to use the lav. The flight attendant should be blocking the path between the cockpit and the cabin. That didn't happen here.
