The chairman of the committee said the panel subpoenaed a former White House official who they say helped write the Ellipse speech.
The address contained phrases that many observers have called inflammatory, urging his supporters to fight harder, stop the steal, and march to the Capitol to make their voices heard.
The committee subpoenaed Andy and Arthur Schwartz, former strategists to Donald Trump Jr., who the panel says helped to plan the Ellipse rally.
In a statement, his lawyer said that his client would cooperate with the committee, but he was confused as to why he was being subpoenaed.
Forbes asked for comment from both Schwartz and Worthington, but neither responded.
The Senate acquitted Trump in February after he was impeached by the House for inciting insurrection. The committee investigating the January 6 riot has issued dozens of subpoenas to Trump advisors and staffers, though Trump has advised them not to cooperate with the panel. The House voted to hold Trump's former chief of staff MarkMeadows in contempt, though the Justice Department has not criminally charged him.
Thompson told CNN that the panel expects to subpoena Giuliani at some point. A Trump spokesman denied a report that Giuliani was involved in a strategy meeting on January 6 in which the group discussed plans to overturn Trump's election loss.
