As the organization is sold, the two quarterbacks who led the Broncos to three Super Bowl titles could be bidding against each other.

According to Woody, six different groups plan on bidding for Broncos ownership, with John Elway expected to be in one of them.

The top bid must be accepted as part of the sale in order for it to be considered a popularity contest.

The ownership of the franchise was the subject of a lawsuit. The trust running the team over the heirs of the former Broncos owner won the case.

Kaiser's heirs thought that his agreement to sell the team to Pat Bowlen in 1984 was valid, which would allow them to refuse any sale. Kaiser's heirs do not need to be notified of a sale in which they cannot refuse, because the 1984 agreement is no longer valid or enforceable, according to the ruling.

It could clear the way for Manning to return to the organization that he played for.

He won one Super Bowl for Denver. He was a three-time Pro Bowler under center and was still one of the league's best quarterbacks even after he left the Indianapolis Colts.

The Broncos are almost synonymous with Elway because he was the quarterback from 1983 through 1998 and won two Super Bowls and an award as a nine-time Pro Bowler. He is the president of football operations.

There are other issues still hanging in the balance for the Broncos.

The team needs a new head coach. The Broncos missed the playoffs for the sixth year in a row.
