The Athletic's Max Olson reported that Drew Sanders, a former 5-star recruit, has entered the transfer portal.
The person is expected to command a lot of interest. The sophomore started three games and appeared in 12 contests, but a hand injury limited his availability.

In those 12 games, he recorded one sack, 24 tackles, 2.5 tackles for a loss and two passes defended.

The class of 2020 has a 22nd-ranked recruit in Sanders. He was the third-best player in Texas behind Jaylon Jones and Zach Evans.
When he was in high school, the analyst had this to say about the player:

A big athlete who could play football on either side of the line of scrimmage. The frame length and height is outstanding and the space is large. The physical profile fits the tight end and edge defender. At quarterback, tight end, receiver, and defense, you have experience. He can play a traditional in-line tight end or a predominantly flex role. As a receiver, he has good body control. When needed, adjusts well to the ball. Consistency is encouraged as a hands catcher. A large catch radius is owned by this person. Motor runs high and physical style suggests high ceiling as a blocker. After playing multiple roles in high school, will have to adjust to playing one position full-time. In college, route running and overall technique will be keys. The frame is great but must be filled with strength and bulk. Can improve pad level. Should become an impact Power 5 starter with the potential to reach an early-round draft projection.

It's not clear which schools he might consider. He received offers from LSU, Oklahoma, Georgia, Notre Dame, Oregon and Penn State.
According to Adam Rittenberg, the transfer portal has been used by several Alabama players, among them, wide receiver DJ Rias, defensive back Brylan Lanier, and offensive lineman Tommy Brown. Alabama lost to Georgia in the national championship game.
Despite losing several players, Alabama has plenty of incoming talent, including two 5-star recruits in edge Jeremiah Alexander and quarterback Ty Simpson.
