The mandate was returned due to a seven-fold increase in Covid-19 cases in the last three weeks, according to the New Orleans health director.

The state reported 1,531 new Covid-19 cases in Orleans Parish as of December 29, up from the previous week.

The mandate is likely to continue into the next season, which begins in March of 2022.

Mayor LaToya Cantrell said last week that the plans for the 2022 celebration will go on without a doubt, after she said in October that the parades would roll in once again.

Around 40. According to the New Orleans Advocate, there will be a number of parade processions in the year 2022.

The key background.

New Orleans canceled its parades last year because of a surge in Covid-19 cases and deaths in the state. Bars were shut down in the city to discourage gatherings and only parade troupes were allowed to hold small events last year, which made for a subdued celebration. In order to enter public spaces in the city, proof of a negative Covid-19 test is required, as well as proof of a Covid-19 vaccine, and in December this requirement was expanded to include children as young as 5 years old.

There will be restrictions before the start of Gras. In the weeks leading up to the big day, Louis Armstrong International Airport was considering mandating vaccinations or a negative Covid-19 test for visitors. The city has made major progress when it comes to vaccinations, with 98% of adults in the city fully protected.
The New Orleans Planning Parades will be held in 2022.
