If you think money doesn't matter, don't tell Jacksonville Jaguars defensive lineman Dawuane Smoot, who entered the final game of the 2021 regular season with money tied to his performance.

When he picked up his sixth sack of the season in Jacksonville's upset win over the Indianapolis Colts, he earned $250,000 in incentives after a message from his wife, Aumari.

"My wife told me not to come home if I don't get the sack," he said. I'm coming home.

Money is not too far behind in the NFL if winning is important. The way they finished the season gave some players extra cash.

The incentives were based on how much they played. They were tied to how they performed.

In the regular-season finale against the Jets, Buffalo's Mario Addison had two sacks, giving him seven for the season and earning him $250,000 for reaching at least six sacks. He was one sack away from a million dollars.

The Buffalo Bills have a defensive player.

In the regular-season finale against the New York Jets, he had two sacks, pushing him to seven for the season and earning him $250,000 for reaching at least six sacks. He was one sack away from a million dollars.

Tom Brady is a quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Brady made more money on Sunday. He earned more than $500,000 for topping 25 touchdown passes and finishing in the top 5, because of the fact that the team finished with 4.3 rushing yards per carry, which was better than last season's 4.12 yards per carry. Brady did not finish in the top 5 in completion percentage, passer rating, and yards per completion.

Brady made another $500,000 for making the playoffs and playing at least 75% of the snaps. The Philadelphia Eagles are playing the Bucs this weekend. Depending on how far the bay advances, it could escalate as high as $2.25 million.

Campbell is a Baltimore Ravens defensive end.

Campbell made $2 million by playing in half of Baltimore's snaps. He would have made only 1.5 million dollars if he had fallen below 45%.

Jadeveon Clowney is a defensive end for the Cleveland Browns.

Clowney made $1 million in incentives this season, $250,000 for playing 60 percent of Cleveland's snaps and $750,000 for reaching nine sacks. He would have made $500,000 more if Cleveland had made the playoffs.

The man is named Jared Cook. The Los Angeles Bolts.

Cook earned $1 million for catching 48 passes. He hit the incentive number, but fell four touchdown shy of the eight he needed for an extra $500,000.

The Arizona Cardinals have a LB named Markus Golden.

Golden made $1 million this season because he reached 11 sacks. He didn't add another $1 million because he didn't reach 13

A.J. Green is a receiver for the Arizona Cardinals.

Green missed out on an extra $500,000 for not reaching 60 catches and 900 yards because the Cards made the playoffs. If Arizona wins the playoffs, he has a chance to make $250,000 more.

Rob Gronkowski is a player for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The regular-season finale was lucrative for Rob Gronkowski.

An extra $1 million was made for reaching 55 catches and 750 yards on Sunday, when he had seven catches. He didn't get an extra $500,000 for not reaching nine touchdown.

Jordan is a LB for the Arizona Cardinals.

The extra $2 million was made by playing 96.8% of the snaps.

Xavien Howard is a CB for the Miami Dolphins.

Howard made an extra $3.5 million in incentives. He played in over 90 percent of Miami's snaps this season, which unlocked 2.5 million dollars for Howard and a $1 million bonus for making the Pro Bowl.

Marvin Jones Jr. is a receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jones made $500,000 by catching 73 passes. He had seven catches that would have made him an extra $500,000.

Larry Ogunjobi is a Cincinnati Bengal.

He earned $656,666 for seven sacks. He would have made $1 million if he had eight sacks.

The Green Bay Packers have a LB.

Smith earned $1.25 million in incentives after he did not get a sack against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. He would have made more money if he had finished with 10 sacks.

Tannehill-Jones chemistry is getting better.

The Los Angeles Rams have an OT player.

The stalwart left tackle made $3.5 million this season for playing in 85% of the snaps and making the playoffs. If the Rams win the Super Bowl, he can make another $500,000.

The players who didn't make it.

Antonio Brown missed out on nearly $1 million in incentives for failing to reach 50 catches, 600 yards and five touchdown. He would have earned $333 million if all of those markers had been used. He finished the season with 42 catches for 545 yards and four touchdown.

Dante Fowler missed out on $1 million because he failed to reach five sacks. He did not get one on Sunday and finished with 4.5.

Houston was unable to get up to $2 million in incentives because he failed to get six sacks.

The Saints failed to make the playoffs, meaning Malcolm Jenkins missed out on a chance to make $500,000.

Chris Jones missed out on a million dollar bonus because he didn't get a sack on Sunday, but that didn't stop him from celebrating.

Chris Jones needed 10 sacks to make a million dollars. He did not get a single one against the Broncos.

Reddick missed out on $2 million in incentives because he fell to 13 sacks and missed the Pro Bowl.
